Payday filing is an Inland Revenue initiative mandatory from April 2019, where you will file your Employee's earnings (currently the EMS/IR348) with your normal pay cycle instead of by the 20th of each month. You will still need to make payment by the 20th of each month. You will also need to provide additional details for new and departing employees to IRD.
If you use an electronic payroll software package, the Supplier will be responsible for ensuring you can produce files compliant with Pay Day Filing. You will have 2 days from the day you pay your employees to file your information to IRD. Most suppliers are currently working on their systems to be compliant by April 2019. We will send further communication and instruction once we have information as to how they will provide the functionality.
If you process your payroll manually but file to IRD electronically, you will need to do file your information via the Business section of MyIR. You will have 2 days from day you pay your employees to file your information to IRD. If you file to IRD using the paper forms, you will have 10 days from the day you pay your employees to file your information to IRD.
This may be a good opportunity to consider an electronic payroll system which also assists with employment law compliance. Please contact the office for more information.
If we process your payroll for you, we will advise what we need from you, and when we will need this information.
Please contact Linda Paton on 07 862-9090 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about Pay Day Filing.
